Batman Cake

Josh requested a batman cake for his birthday this year. Just batman? I asked. Yep. Fondant or Frosting? (Did I even need to ask) Frosting! He yelled. Right on. He even helped me with a few stars.

Kung Fu Panda Cake

Tyler requested a Kung fu Panda cake for his birthday this year. He asked for all furious five posing in mid air with awesome Kung fu moves, the background would be the Jade palace and there could be fire works... Well, Ty, How about Po with a bowl of noodles and maybe a dumpling? Sure he said. I love when they're easy to please. My favorite part-Tyler thought it was the most amazing cake ever. I love this kid!

Called to Serve

My cute cute cousin has been called to serve in the Philippines! His farewell was this last week so we whipped up a little missionary cake for him. It was the best farewell I had been to in awhile. He gave an awesome talk, did a fabulous job! I am so excited for the people of the Philippines to be fortunate to have a great missionary coming to spread the gospel! Alex, You are going to be awesome, now go out and enjoy the next two years!

Hateful Unicorn

Oh how I hate this cake. This was suppose to be a cute pink unicorn for a cute little girl turning six, who's only request for her birthday was the Pegasus webkinz, (who has been retired) the pony palace and a unicorn cake. So, we tried and failed miserably (at the cake). We laughed so hard at this cake. In the beginning it was an entire bust of a unicorn, whose mouth and nose drooped down so far off its face that it started to look like a pink ant eater, and then we watched as the head fell off. So, I took what cake we had left, and molded it into the one on the right, and tried to salvage the pink anteater unicorn who apparently was also a drag queen from the looks of her eye make up. When your six, you don't see all the things that go wrong with the cake. I'm hoping, she will just remember that when she turned six, she got two cakes, one of which was a unicorn that hopefully she imagines was wonderful.

Helicopter Cake for Dad

My Dad turned 65 this year! I had visions of an awesome helicopter cake for him and this was not it. The fondant was too soft, the icing seemed runny, and nothing seemed to be working right with this cake. Then, to top it all off, on delivery, the cake took a nose dive into the front seat of the car, breaking all the rotors. Needless to say, Dad loved it and I'm just hoping this cake tasted better then it looked.

Skate or Die

Nick turns 30 this year on December 24th. Lori decided to catch him off guard and throw a little surprise party for him at classic skating a little early. Since Nick likes to do a little skate boarding we decided to whip this one up real quick. We tried to replicate the stickers that are on his board and throw in a little shout out to nyrm from high school days.

Scooby Doo

The obvious choice for the boy who LOVES, loves, LOVES Scooby Doo. Josh turned 8 today and we had to get him one of these, we actually were looking for the little cake pan that we could frost, but couldn't find one in time, so we carved this one up. I think we did pretty good.

Hamburger Cake

My awesome brother in law, who is always doing huge favors for me by engraving multiple gifts and awards, celebrated his thirty nineth birthday today.

Everytime I ask him what I can do in return we agree on a sonic combo meal complete with

tater tots and mountain dew!
Which, if you have ever seen his work, is a deal!
I have never kept my end of the deal. But wade always pulls through.
Im hoping maybe this could count as
one of my IOU's?
Now I only have 999 left?!

We had a lot of fun making it even though Ryan and I got into a few disagreements
about it being "anatomically" correct!

Apparently the eyes should be on the side of a snakes head,
and the body should taper down at the end
and they have diamond designs or stripes but not polka dots.
WELL,Wouldn't you rather see a green snake with
blue and red polka dots and yellow gumball eyes lurking in the jungle?
Thats what I thought.

Happy 30th Birthdays

My much, much older sisters turned 40 this year. HA! HA! HA! not really. I can only say that because they don't read this. And for those of you who are reading and know they are only four years older then I am, I guess I should be a little more honest. So, Happy 30th birthday Christy and Lisa! Hope it was great.

Pumpkin Cake

Remember the Cuppy cake? Same pan- More frosting. I think we pulled it off. A little secret about this cake? The back isn't frosted because the kids kept eating the frosting. After the spoon, bowl and mixer were licked clean they started on the back of this cake. No Joke. How else do you think we keep these girlish figures. P.S. It really is a pumpkin cake.

This is the latest crazy in my kitchen these days. They are the perfect size. They are little four inch round cakes and have been a big hit with my cute YW turning 16 and leaving for Laurels. The kids get a kick out of drawing up ideas and picking colors. These are so cute when they are all wrapped up with a matching bow. Ryan actually got the brown and green one for his birthday. He had requested Cougar Stadium and this is what he got. Cougar stadium? Come on now.

The Painters Pallet

Morgan and her friends were going to Color me Mine for her birthday. So we whipped this out real quick after hearing she didn't have a cake. No Cake? We can't let that happen, Plus Morgan is my biggest fan. She is always coming up with her own ideas to decorate with all the left over frosting and cake scraps. Happy Birthday Morgan!

blue gumball machine

After the orignal gumball machine was made, my cute neighbor requested it in blue for Nicks birthday. We had a few leftover gumballs from the red one so we used them, I really wish the bowl was more full. While I'm complaining about it, the wrinkles and the tears in the fondant Argh! But like I said I'm learning as we go and practice will hopefully make us perfect. I've heard rumor he has hidden the jar of gumballs in his closet and sneaks them out occasionally. He is probably one of those brothers that saves his Halloween or Easter candy until everyone else has eaten theirs and then brings it out to tease the rest of us with it. We love you Nick!

Josh's #2

Josh's second Birthday cake. It's funny looking back on the cakes we've made. This one makes me laugh. One day we could redo this and make it look a little neater, but who cares- the kids love their cakes no matter how messy they are. The candles on top we made out of melted white chocolate chips and colored the tops with food coloring.

My pretty princess for my pretty princess. Emily was so excited for her princess cake. Tyler just wanted to pull off her arms, Josh was checking out her hair, and Emily was just happy sittig next to her.

Josh Loves Basketball and so of course that was his request. I didn't mind -the sport balls are fun! Especially with all my little three year old helpers in the neighborhood that show up around cake makin time! One day I'll get a picture of their big eyes lined up around the counter tops asking if its done yet.

Sponge Bob

By far the most talked about cake at the boys birtday parties! He was pretty cool. He was very sloppy so I hope one day to redo sponge bob and give him the credit he deserves. We had to eat cake as soon as the boys got there otherwise Sponge Bob was going to dive into the table. His poor eyes were falling off and his head was slipping, which kindof added to the sponge bob look- I guess thats what happens when you take a sponge from the ocean!

Purse

This is the one that started the fondant craze. I made this for the cake display at our Relief Society "Pursonal" enrichment. The desserts were cakes made by women in the ward and displayed bakery style. Nobody would cut into it so I ended up taking the entire thing home for breakfast. (Yes, we will eat cake for breakfast-with a diet coke of course!)

Quick and Easy! This awesome pan is from Williams-Sonoma. I know Target has something similar to. The nice thing is it probably took 5 minutes to throw the frosting and sprinkles on it and its always a big hit, so I made it for my own birthday.

Gumball Machine

My cute neice was having a birthday and what better then a gumball cake made for the Gumball Queen! That girl can sniff out a pack of bubble gum from anywhere. Maybe thats why I love her so much. Happy Birthday Josie!
